Berlin, again undivided capital of Germany since 1991, is one of the most visited cities in Europe together with London, Paris and Rome. Around 135,000 students study in Berlin at a total of 31 universities and colleges. One-fifth of the economic power of Berlin derives from creative and cultural industries – by far more than in any other German city. Berlin is host to many international festivals: e.g. The Berlin Festival, the Literaturfestspiele, the Jazzfest and the Berlinale, the famous international film festival, one of the largest public festivals in the world. Three opera houses, more than 50 theaters, about 170 museums and collections, about 600 commercial galleries, 130 cinemas and countless other facilities make Berlin a world cultural metropolis. World-famous is the Berlin club scene, which counts as an international trendsetter on par with New York.
